Trees breath in carbon dioxide and emit oxygen. Woods are one of the coolest places to be on a hot summer day. It's known that trees draw in and hold moisture and release it slowly into the atmosphere. As long as trees are close enough and if there is a certain fungus present, trees can pass nutrients including water accross the forest to each other through the root system. Trees growing close enough together support each other in high winds.

Native Americans used to call Trees Standing People. In past times in the British Isles, it's known humans had a far greater understanding of the tree energies and healing properties. Modern understanding of the human aura helps us realise the human has a sphere of energy all around it, at least four foot in each direction, imagine then the size of a tree aura...

One simple way to connect with tree energy is to sit under it. Native Americans used to sit under a tree when they had a problem to ponder. The best way to gain inspiration is to let your mind drift to wherever it wants, if there are other trees in your view you will gain from connecting to them through looking at them without feeling you need to be inspired particularly.

Trying to receive information or feel the energy is often a block; going with flow is easier. It may seem as if not much is happening or you may get impressions of things you think are your imagination, but your imagination is a very powerful healing and problem solving tool. Scenerios that float through your mind can help you see beyond your problems and therefore raise your consciousness beyond the immediate block in your lift.

Appreciating the beauty of Mother Nature is a positive way of connecting to Earth Energy. Your appreciation is positive giving, you will receive energy in return, although you may not be fully aware of it. Try going out for a walk in natural surroundings, at the beginning feel your feet on the earth to ground you, the as you walk connect through sight with a tree ahead,

As you approach the tree imagine your are breathing in the tree energy and on your outbreath energy is flowing out of you to the surrounding area including the tree. Once you've established the breathing pattern you can let your mind drift...At the end of your walk notice how you feel, probably refreshed, relaxed and energised.

To connect to a tree with Reiki flowing, simply have your palms facing the tree...your arms can be down by your side or however you are comfortable. Visualise a circuit of Reiki flowing from your hands to the bottom of the trunk, up the trunk then from the top of the tree, down into the Earth behind you and then up through your legs, you may find yourself swaying, and feeling pulled towards the tree: you are feeling the life-force. Once you've set up the circuit there's no need to keep visualising instead just let your thoughts flow. Asking questions of the tree and noting the answers that seems to come back is a interesting exercise.

The original Christmas celebration was actually a Nature ceremony surrounding the Oak Tree and Holly battling for supremacy...to pull people away from what they perceived to be pagan beliefs early Christians highjacked the celebration and called it Jesus's birthday, they moved the date too. Interestingly it was considered to be extremely unlucky to have holly in the home after 12th night...which would originally have been around the 31st December...by moving Christmas to the 25th, Twelfth night became the 6th of December, and everyone was unwittingly causing themselves bad luck, but of course the clergy would be only too willing to pray for them!
